Google has released a major update for its Google Health app on iOS, finally bringing seamless data syncing with Apple Health.

The version 5.05 update released on Sunday night includes general bug fixes alongside the new integration, which allows users to share details like exercise records, sleep, vitals, and daily steps directly into Apple Health. Google has also added Smart Health Links, a feature designed to help users share medical records with family members or healthcare providers.

Setting up the sync is straightforward. Inside the Google Health app, navigate to Connections, select Apps and services, tap Apple Health, and select Get started. After agreeing to the prompt, you can choose from 20 different health categories to sync based on your preferences. Just tap the ones you want to toggle ‘on’ to sync.

This update is especially helpful for anyone switching up their hardware, such as picking up a new Fitbit Air or moving over from an Apple Watch.

The Google Health app was released back in late May, replacing the Fitbit app. The release was timed with the launch of the Fitbit Air and the new app brings a health coach that’s powered by Gemini, available for Fitbit Premium subscribers.
