Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch Recalled in Canada Over Burn Hazard, Get a Full Refund Today

Health Canada has issued a recall on the Fitbit Ionic smartwatch, as the battery can overheat and post a burn hazard.

“As of February 15, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or Mexico. In the United States, the company has received at least 115 reports of the battery overheating,” says Health Canada.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Ionic smartwatch and contact Fitbit LLC for a refund,” reads the recall.

You can call Fitbit at 1-888-925-1764 (toll free) or 213-328-5250 (toll) or online here to get started on the refund, as part of a voluntary recall by the company.

In Canada, about 70,561 units of the affected product were sold here, while roughly 1 million were sold in the United States and approximately 5,073 were sold in Mexico.

The Fitbit Ionic products affected were sold from August 2017 to August 2020 and manufactured in Taiwan and China.
