Calgary Transit announced on Tuesday it has now retired its YYC Transit app, in favour of Montreal-based app Transit.

Earlier this year, Calgary chose Transit as its next app provider for trip planning. The city was already Transit to power its YYC Transit app, but with the shift to Transit, riders will get a free upgrade to Transit Royale, the normally paid subscription service for regular users.

Royale offers in-app customizations, plus the ability to look up all transit lines, check out unlimited transit schedules, plus choose from new icons to mark favourite places and more.

Essentially, Royale offers full access to all departure times for buses and trains that aren’t nearby plus more features.

Calgary says riders can download Transit now in the App Store and Google Play. Existing users of Transit should have received a notification of a free upgrade to Royale as of June 28, in time for the Calgary Stampede, says the city.
