Ahead of Canada Day, Twitter Canada has revealed some new insights on what Canadians are discussing on the platform. Over the course of the first six months of 2022, millions of Canadians have taken to Twitter to discuss movies, sports, politics, and more.
The following stats were taken and produced from January 1st to June 15th.
In 2022 (so far), the most-mentioned categories based on all Tweets sent by Canadians include:
- Canadian Personality – Justin Trudeau
- Musician – Jungkook from BTS
- TV Show – Euphoria
- Movie – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
- Video Game – Wordle

Finally, Twitter Canada points out that a Tweet made by Elizabeth Kearns became the company’s favourite Canadian viral Tweet. Kearns simply posted a wholesome photo of her father, a Fredericton, NB retiree asking for “5 likes.” The Tweet went on to amass 328,000+ Likes and over 12,000 Retweets.
