Feds to Spend $750,000 to Bring Faster Internet to Campbellville, Ontario

Through its $2.75 billion Universal Broadband Fund (UBF), the Government of Canada has today announced $750,000 in funding for Mage Networks to bring high-speed Internet to 357 rural households in Campbellville, Ontario.

The UBF, which is part of a suite of federal investments to improve high-speed Internet, is designed to help connect 98% of Canadians to high-speed Internet by 2026 and achieve the national target of 100% connectivity by 2030.

This grant from the UBF will greatly improve Internet service in the region. “Mage Networks appreciates the recognition from ISED that our innovative MagiNet solution is a key component in closing the digital divide for all Canadians,” said Dr. Sayed-Amr El-Hamamsy, CEO of Mage Networks.

“We need to close the connectivity gap and ensure that every nook and cranny of Ontario has access to reliable high-speed Internet. Investments like this one in Campbellville help create jobs, improve access to health care and online learning services, and keep us connected to our loved ones,” said Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development.

Since 2015, the Government of Canada has invested more than $843 million in connectivity projects in Ontario.
