Apple’s 128GB iPhone 12 on Clearance for $499

Okay, it’s time to get that wallet of yours open again if you’re looking for a new iPhone for your kid or mom and dad.
Yesterday we told you how Costco had 256GB versions of Apple’s aging iPhone 12 for $599, but now it appears the retailer continues to restock other variants on its website.
As of writing, the 128GB iPhone 12 is back in stock for $499, but only in Red. The colour doesn’t really matter as most people toss their phones into cases. Heck, an iPhone SE 3 128GB costs $649, but the iPhone 12 is a better phone with MagSafe, Ceramic Shield front, faster 5G, Face ID, better battery life, wide angle camera, and larger display. These are fully unlocked so you just need to pop in your SIM card (or transfer over your eSIM).
Costco says this is a “hot buy” and is only available “while supplies last”.
As for the 256GB iPhone 12, more colours have been restocked aside from Light Green. Black, White and Purple are showing as in stock as of writing, again at $599.
Your best bet is to keep refreshing Costco’s website here to see if the 64GB gets restocked as well at some point.
Why buy an iPhone 12? Yes, it’s an older phone but if you need a relatively ‘cheaper’ iPhone for your kid, these prices are better than Facebook Marketplace and you’re getting a brand new phone. Plus buying from Costco gives you an extended return policy versus other retailers at up to 90 days for electronics.

Too bad the 64GB is not available anymore, would have been a nice upgrade to my iPhone 8
Keep watching the stock – it fluctuated a lot since yesterday. It was available this morning.
Reviewing Apple’s own ‘Compare Phones’ on its devices in their Stores, it would seem that unless you need (not just want) to be on the bleeding edge of iPhone tech, there’s really very little difference between the 12 and the basic 15. Aside from price.
It may be an ‘old’ model, but my Mini 12 works just fine and with all the apps I need. Even if the ‘Compare’ app only offers me $200 towards a newer one.
The big differences are a *much* brighter screen, better battery life, the Dynamic Island, USB C, faster 5G and a much better camera. The processor is about 25-45% faster and it has much more RAM. So I agree it’s not earth shattering, but it would last a lot longer (perhaps almost twice as long) and some of those features would be quite compelling to some people. OTOH, someone like my dad who is happy with his XR would be a good candidate for an upgrade such as this.
