Turo Introducing New Features Including Pay Later and Book Instantly

Turo is introducing new features and updates to its peer-to-peer car-sharing service, enabling its users to browse better, book and secure a vehicle when needed. The new update includes better browsing, a Pay Later option and the ability to book instantly.
Turo, the largest peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace, is aiming to penetrate the $172 billion USD total addressable market. In its attempt to continue doing so, it is rolling out key updates to the user experience. One of which is a brand-new browsing experience. Users can now find a refined way to look at over 1,600 unique makes and models.
With the limitless search feature, users can browse available vehicles without dates or locations. Now, Turo users can find anything from exotic vehicles to the latest models. This new search feature adds sharable favourites lists and personalized content, thanks to the use of machine learning models. This is a first for the car-sharing market as competitors typically leave broad categories such as ‘midsize’ or ‘standard’ as options.
“Travel is increasingly expensive, and people crave change. The status quo of the last 60+ years of Big Rental has yielded a common, commodified experience that is devoid of innovation,” Turo CEO Andre Haddad said. “Turo is the new way of thinking about car travel. It’s a way to drive your dream car, or test drive a car before you drop $50k on it, or find the perfect car that checks all the boxes for your family vacation.”
Alongside the refresh to browsing, Turo is also introducing the ‘Pay Later’ and ‘Book Instantly’ features. As one can imagine, the former enables Turo users to pay $0 when booking. The company hopes this grants users more flexibility and convenience during the booking stage. The latter feature is the standard for all trips. Turo aims to remove the need to request and wait for a host to approve the journey, streamlining the car rental process.
Finally, a new ‘Hosting Teams’ feature is arriving. This function allows hosts to invite co-hosts to manage pricing, availability, and trip details. This offers hosts to collaborate while also ensuring privacy is maintained.
Turo’s services are available in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and France.
