Deleting or uninstalling apps from your Mac can free up valuable storage space, allowing your device to run more efficiently. Here’s how you can do it yourself.

Using Launchpad to Delete Apps Downloaded from the App Store

Launchpad provides a user-friendly way to delete apps that you have downloaded from the App Store. Simply follow these steps:

  • Quit the App: Ensure the app you want to delete is closed.
  • Open Launchpad: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock or find it in your Applications folder. Alternatively, you can use the trackpad gesture by pinching closed with your thumb and three fingers.
  • Find the App: If the app isn’t immediately visible, use the search field at the top of Launchpad. Navigate between pages of apps by clicking the dots at the bottom of the screen or swiping left or right with two fingers.
  • Delete the App: Press and hold the Option key or click and hold any app until they start to jiggle. Click the Delete button next to the app you want to remove, then confirm the deletion.

The Delete button appears only for apps downloaded from the App Store. For other apps, you will need to use Finder.
