Smart home device maker Eve Systems, a subsidiary of ABB, has announced the release of the Matter version of its popular Eve Weather smart weather station, now available in Canada and the U.S.

The device, priced at $79.95 USD and $109.95 CAD, features a sleek, water-resistant design and a large display showing outdoor temperature, humidity, and local weather trends. Users can check weather conditions via the Eve app or voice assistants across all major platforms (Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant), thanks to Matter technology.

“Thanks to its hyperlocal weather sensor data, Eve Weather is irreplaceable in providing triggers and conditions for automations, indoors and outdoors,” says Jerome Gackel, CEO of Eve in a statement to iPhone in Canada. “It is beautiful to look at and, thanks to Matter technology, everyone can now benefit from its accurate readings, regardless of platform.”

The Matter version includes precise sensors measuring temperature, humidity, and air pressure, with IPX4 water resistance and an elegant aluminum housing. It provides critical data for smart home automations and is compatible with Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.

Existing Eve Weather users with the HomeKit model can access a free Matter firmware upgrade. Eve Weather is available for purchase on Eve’s website and Amazon.ca.

Could be a tough sell when we can just look at the phone for the latest weather, even though it may not be exact to their location.

Need a border router for Thread, not for Matter. If it’s Matter over WiFi nothing changes, but if it’s Matter over Thread you’ll need a border router.
