Scotiabank Confirms Direct Deposits Not Working, Fix Coming

Fridays are usually the day bi-monthly direct deposits happen when it comes to getting paid by your work, but Scotiabank customers didn’t see their pay cheques in their accounts today.
Many Scotiabank customers took to X on Friday morning to say their direct deposits were missing.
“So it looks like every person in the country who banks with @scotiabank and was due to be paid today, was not. It’s a widespread outage, and Scotiabank has not said a word. That’s concerning to say the least,” said one user.
Other echoed the sentiment about not seeing their pay day being deposited.
Hey @CBC seems @scotiabank won’t acknowledge their issues today. Anybody who banks with them have not gotten their direct deposits today and customers are getting runarounds. Can’t get through to them either. From a company with Q2 profits of $2.09B. Customers need answers!!!!!

Scotiabank finally acknowledged the direct deposit outage an hour ago, saying, “We are currently experiencing a technical issue where some of our clients’ inbound payments, including direct deposits and cheque deposits, are not being applied to their accounts. We are actively working to resolve this as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”

The bank did not give an estimate on when the direct deposit issue would be fixed.
Of course, there were immediately many frustrated replies, when payments aren’t automatically deposited.
The bank’s website describes direct deposit as, “the quick and easy way to have immediate access to your money.” Clearly that wasn’t the case today.
Were you affected by this Scotiabank direct deposit issue today?
