Google Maps, Waze Announce New Features for Safer Travel
In a bid to make driving safer and more convenient, Google Maps and Waze have rolled out new features aimed at keeping users stress-free on the road.

The newly announced updates, available globally, introduce improvements in incident reporting, destination guidance, traffic alerts, and navigation.
Enhanced Incident Reporting in Google Maps
With the new update, users can quickly report accidents, construction zones, lane closures, and the presence of police. These reports are sourced from both the Google Maps and Waze communities, ensuring a comprehensive flow of information.
The interface now features larger, more accessible reporting icons, allowing users to share updates swiftly. Other drivers can confirm these reports with a single tap, enhancing the reliability of the shared information.
This feature is now available on Android, iOS, vehicles with Google built-in, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
New Destination Guidance in Google Maps
Finding your way to new locations just got simpler with Google Maps’ new destination guidance feature. When approaching a destination, the app will highlight the building and its entrance, along with nearby parking options. This is particularly useful for navigating unfamiliar areas, especially at night.
Real-Time Traffic Event Notifications in Waze
Waze’s new traffic events feature provides real-time updates on traffic conditions caused by events like parades, concerts, and sporting events. Users who drive through affected areas or have saved places nearby will receive notifications about these events once they start. The app will display details such as the event’s cause, road closures, and current traffic conditions.

Users will now receive alerts for various infractions, including speeding, red light violations, improper lane usage, seatbelt violations, and mobile phone usage while driving.
These alerts serve as a reminder to adhere to traffic rules, helping drivers avoid penalties. This feature is rolling out globally on both Android and iOS.
