Advanced Apple Intelligence AI Features May Cost $20 Per Month

Apple’s forthcoming artificial intelligence (AI) system Apple Intelligence could come with a significant price tag, according to industry analysts, CNBC reports.

As the tech giant gears up to introduce these advanced features across its devices later this year, experts suggest that Apple may charge users up to $20 per month for access to the more premium aspects of its AI offerings.

Announced in June, Apple Intelligence promises to enhance the capabilities of the Siri voice assistant and introduce a range of new functionalities, including the automatic generation of emails and images.

While these AI-powered features will be gradually rolled out, some regions such as China and Europe may not receive immediate access. Analysts believe that Apple could eventually monetize these advanced features through a subscription model, potentially bundling them with the existing Apple One service.

Neil Shah, a partner at Counterpoint Research, highlighted the significant investment required to develop AI technology, noting that Apple is likely to pass these costs on to its user base. “Software and services make it more lucrative for Apple to incorporate AI features into the Apple One subscription model,” Shah told CNBC in a recent interview.

Currently, Apple One, which provides access to a suite of Apple services including Apple Music, costs $19.95 per month. Shah speculates that Apple could charge an additional $10 to $20 for Apple Intelligence, particularly for the more advanced AI capabilities.

Charging for AI-powered services is not an uncommon strategy in the tech industry. For instance, OpenAI offers a subscription fee for access to more advanced ChatGPT features, while Microsoft charges for its AI Copilot tool.

Apple’s main competitor, Samsung, has already begun rolling out its own AI services, known as Galaxy AI, and is currently exploring different revenue models for its software.

Another $20/month on top of iCloud subscription?!? Not worth the extra for me. Apple is looking for recurring fees as they likely see a decrease in iphone sales.

This is every company's new scam. They're all trying to find something they can charge "rent" for. I already pay enough rent as is. I will not pay for this. Plus, Apple already rip us off with how much they charge for iCloud.

If they can come up with a subscription fee, I'm sure it's entirely possible to run Apple Intelligence on the iPhone 15/14 Pro and maybe a few earlier models. Just you'd have to pay a monthly subscription.

Wow you just summed up the article while pretending you came up with it as an assumption.

This is tantamount to Google charging a monthly fee to use its search engine. I will have no part in this.
