Instagram’s Music on Profiles Lets Users Add Songs to Their Bios
Instagram has rolled out a nostalgic new feature that allows users to add a song to their profile, reminiscent of the Myspace era from the early 2000s (via The Verge).

According to Instagram, the new music feature will place a chosen song in the bio area of a user’s profile. Unlike the autoplay functionality that Myspace popularized, Instagram’s approach is more user-controlled.
Visitors to a profile can choose to play or pause the track, giving them the option to engage with the music at their convenience. This allows users to add a unique musical touch to their profiles without overwhelming their audience.
To add a song, users need to navigate to the “edit profile” section of their account. Here, they can search Instagram’s extensive library of licensed music, which is the same collection available for use in Reels and posts. Once they’ve selected a track, users can choose a specific 30-second segment to feature on their profile. This snippet will remain visible until the user decides to replace or remove it.
Instagram’s launch of this feature is highlighted by a collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter. Known for her catchy summer hit “Espresso,” Carpenter is now offering fans an exclusive preview of her new song, “Taste,” through her Instagram profile.
This track, which is part of her upcoming album “Short n’ Sweet,” will be accessible only via her Instagram profile until the album’s official release on Friday.

In addition to the music feature, Instagram has introduced several hidden features tied to Carpenter’s forthcoming album. For instance, using specific keywords like “Sabrina” or inserting a coffee cup emoji in temporary Notes messages will cause the text to turn light blue.
Additionally, users can now access a Carpenter-themed chat design, complete with lipstick kiss marks, adding an extra layer of interactivity and fun for her fans.
