According to insider sources, Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind the hit soccer comedy, has taken a significant step by renewing the contracts of three original cast members.

The studio is believed to have officially picked up the options for three core cast members who were originally under contracts with the UK acting union Equity. With these key actors now secured, Warner Bros. is expected to reach out to other cast members whose contracts, under SAG-AFTRA, have expired.

The three cast members include Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond’s formidable owner Rebecca Walton; Brett Goldstein, who portrays the gruff yet lovable Roy Kent; and Jeremy Swift, who embodies the diligent Director of Football Operations, Leslie Higgins.

Among other key cast members likely to be approached for new deals are co-creators and executive producers Jason Sudeikis, who plays the titular character Ted Lasso, and Brendan Hunt, who stars as Coach Beard.

Additionally, Juno Temple, known for her role as the vibrant Keeley Jones, is also believed to be in talks for a return. However, it appears that Phil Dunster, who plays the complex character Jamie Tartt, may not be returning due to commitments with other series, including Prime Video’s “The Devil’s Hour” and Apple’s “Surface.”

While the cast negotiations are underway, early preparations for the potential fourth season have begun. Sources indicate that a writers’ room is being assembled, laying the groundwork for new episodes. If all elements fall into place, production for Season 4 could begin as early as 2025.

However, the final greenlight for the new season will depend on budget approvals and the availability of the cast, especially those who may have joined other projects during the hiatus.
