Rogers Charging $25 Shipping Fee for iPhone 16, Unlike Telus or Bell

Looks like the days of free shipping for a smartphone ordered from Rogers is over.

According to iPhone in Canada readers, Rogers is now charging a $25 shipping fee for standard shipping, and it applies for the iPhone 16 series, or any other phone you order.

If you choose Rogers in-store pickup, that is free (for now we hope). But compared to rivals Telus and Bell, they are both still offering free shipping for smartphones ordered online.

Here is the Telus checkout page for iPhone 16 Pro, for example:

…and here’s the Bell checkout page for the same iPhone 16 Pro, also free shipping:

Also, Quebecor’s Freedom Mobile also offers free shipping still on smartphones.

Most savvy shoppers upgrading to an iPhone 16 series device will likely pre-order directly from Apple.ca, but people who are upgrading or jumping on a financing plan or phone leasing option, will be dinged the $25 shipping fee if they opt for delivery.

With wireless carriers now charging a $70 connection fee for activations and upgrades performed with a human, it seems the new shipping fee is another extra cost for those buying online from Rogers. Let’s hope Telus and Bell don’t get inspired by this delivery fee change…

Spend $15000 and still have to pay shipping. Good one, Rogers.

Rogers 5g Rural Home Internet, either the home device or the mobile hotspot, the shipping use to be free. Shipping is now $25 as well. Rogers is also advertising “Bonus Data”. It’s a lie. It has always been a 500GB plan.

I'll never understand why some people still buy their phones trough a carrier instead of buying it directly from the company itself (Samsung, Apple, Google etc). Not only it is easier to order but you don't have to deal with overpriced cellphone plans and now this ridiculous shipping tax.

Oftentimes it is better to buy direct from Apple etc. But there are scenarios where buying from the carrier makes sense. For example, I recently helped a client who was able to get 4 iPhones 15 Pro Max for about $800 off each, on a great $35/month plan that includes tons of data and Can/US calling. They aren't wanting to switch from Telus in the next 2 years. So in that case they are saving thousands of dollars by doing so.

Because you're giving Rogers your money when they pull things like this. But I understand that we're in a dog eat dog world in Canada. Gotta take the savings where we can even if it's too a garbage company.

Sometimes it can save money. For the average consumer it really doesn't and you're locked into a $65 phone plan with a $30-40 payment on top of that. I pay $34 a month with Canada US roaming included. In the course of 2 years I'll have saved up the financial equivalent of an iPhone 16 pro instead of giving it to Rogers. Happy enough with that, but it's not for everyone.

Rogers buys up shaw. CEO's pay increases. Consumer prices do likewise. Nobody wins. Who saw this coming?
Such a garbage company just like the rest.
Check out openbox which at least offers shipping for $10 and cheaper prices to boot.
The only company that offers 0% APR anymore is Samsung. I'll stick to my $34 US Canada plan with Public. Over a 2 year period I'll have saved enough money to buy a new phone outright, even if it's not direct from Apple.
The CRTC is sure doing all it can to curb these nonsense price hikes eh? Our entire telecom system needs to be dismantled. Doesn't matter what government is in power – they just climb in bed with the big three. Garbage. Nobody should have to shop around for a new deal each year because we never fail to get raked over the coals somehow.

I ordered my 16Pro thru Rogers. They said it would cost me $25 to have it shipped to my home but it would be free if I picked it up at the Rogers store at the local mall. I opted for the latter. I also went for the Rogers phone protection plan over Applecare because for some dumb reason Applecare does not cover you against loss or theft in Canada even though they do in U.S. Rogers protection plan covers you for both
