Spotify AI Playlists Arrive in Canada as Part of Beta Rollout

Spotify is expanding the launch of its ‘AI Playlist’ beta access. Starting September 24th, iOS and Android users in Canada will begin to see the feature appear within the Spotify app. Previously, Spotify’s AI Playlist beta was only available in the United Kingdom and Australia. However, the latest expansion includes the U.S., Ireland and New Zealand on top of Canada’s access.

The AI Playlist beta is accessible in English to Spotify Premium members. Once avaialble, users can take text prompts and use them to “effortlessly turn your most creative ideas into playlists,” says the company. These prompts will generate entire playlists within Spotify. The app also suggests a few prompts, including ‘My top played songs from last year’ and ’90s romcom main character’.

To test the feature yourself, navigate to ‘Your Library’ on the bottom rright of the Spotify menu. Click the ‘+’ symbol on the top right of the screen. You’ll now see the ‘AI Playlist’ option. Once selected, you can try any of the suggested prompts or type your own into the text box. Generative AI will do the rest of the work, creating a playlist tailored to you. The generated AI playlist can then be saved to Your Library.

Spotify’s AI Playlist prompts can even generate track lists based on mood, colours, and even locations. You can get pretty specific as well. Typing ‘Energetic music to work to in the morning’, I was given a list of 30 songs within the playlist. Spotify’s AI tech then let me go back into the text box and refine the search. “Can you make it more moody?,” I wrote. Within seconds, the AI Playlist created a brand new playlist of more finely curated tracks to explore.

More information on Spotify’s AI Playlists can be found here. There’s no current word on when the feature will become globally available.

Ok so again they are pushing this, but still no improved sound quality that they promised years ago and still never received! No one wants this!
