Xbox September Update Brings New Features for PC, Mobile, and Consoles

The Xbox September update is packed with exciting enhancements across multiple platforms, delivering new experiences for PC gamers, Xbox console users, and mobile app fans.

Game Bar

The latest update brings improved features to the Xbox Game Bar on PC, adds new game management options to the Xbox app, and streamlines the mobile experience for Xbox Game Pass users.

After a limited release for Xbox Insiders in August, the new Game Bar Compact Mode is now accessible to all PC players on Windows. This mode is specifically designed for smaller screens and handheld devices, optimizing the gaming experience for a more compact display.

One of the key benefits of Game Bar Compact Mode is its enhanced navigation system, which makes it easier to switch between widgets. Players can use their controllers, utilizing the left and right bumpers (LB/RB) to move between different options.

Managing installed games has also become easier in the Xbox App on PC. Now, players can access all game-related content, including add-ons and DLC, from a single location.

To do this, users simply right-click on the game in their library or from the left navigation panel, select “Manage,” and then go to the new “Add-ons” section.

New Xbox App on Mobile

Big changes are coming to the Xbox app on mobile devices, as Microsoft is merging the Xbox Game Pass app into the main Xbox app. Starting soon, Xbox beta members on mobile will be able to test these updates before they roll out to all users.

One of the major changes includes the ability to explore the Game Pass library, manage memberships, and receive updates on new Game Pass titles, all from the Xbox app.

As part of this transition, Microsoft will no longer support new downloads of the standalone Xbox Game Pass app starting in November. However, all the essential features of Game Pass will now be integrated into the main Xbox app on both iOS and Android devices.

For Xbox console users, the update also introduces the ability to pre-download updates for their favorite games, allowing them to jump straight into gameplay when the update goes live.

To start using this feature, go to My Games & Apps > Manage > Updates, and view all the available pre-downloads..
