Massive Rogers Stadium in Toronto is Coming from Live Nation
Live Nation has revealed plans for a new 50,000-seat outdoor stadium in north Toronto, aiming to host top-tier global music performances. Scheduled to open in June 2025, the venue will be located on land formerly part of Downsview Airport.
The project will be developed in collaboration with Northcrest Developments, which had previously intended to build a film studio on the site. The stadium will occupy the northern end of the property, while the developer retains the option to revisit the film studio project at a later date.
“This was a natural response to an unprecedented amount of stadium-level artists on the road today, we now have another home for them to perform,” said Erik Hoffman, president of music at Live Nation Canada, at a press conference in Toronto on Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Concerts will continue at the downtown Rogers Centre, but the new stadium will provide an extra large-scale venue for the city. Rogers has secured naming rights for the new stadium and is also the exclusive telco sponsor, hence the name, Rogers Stadium. Rogers is everywhere, folks.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to strengthen not just Toronto, but Canada’s entertainment and cultural industries, together with Live Nation, Northcrest Developments and our government partners,” said Tony Staffieri, CEO of Rogers.
When Rogers Stadium is complete, Live Nation says it plans to host 12-15 concerts per year at the site.
