New iOS 18 Features: Sort and Filter Your Photo Library [VIDEO]

With the release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, Apple has introduced enhanced sorting and filtering options for the Photos app on iPhones and iPads, offering users greater control over how they organize their photo libraries.

How to sort and filter in Photos

hese new features make it easier than ever to find specific photos and videos, customize the layout of the photo grid, and quickly access the media you want.

Here’s how you can make the most of these new tools in the Photos app.

Sorting Your Photo Library

  1. Open the Photos App: Begin by launching the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Browse Your Library: Once inside, swipe down on the photo grid to scroll through your collection of photos and videos.
  3. Access Sorting Options: Tap the “Filter” button at the top of the screen to reveal the sorting options.
  4. Choose Your Preferred Sorting Method:
    • Recently Added: This option sorts your library by when each item was imported or saved, displaying the most recent additions at the bottom of the grid.
    • Date Captured: Select this option to sort your photos and videos by the date they were originally taken, not when they were added to the Photos app.

  2. Swipe to Browse: As with sorting, swipe down on the photo grid to navigate through your library.
