PlayStation Network Back Online Following Overnight Outage

PlayStation Network was hit with a distruptive outage late yesterday evening. However, the issue appears to now be largely resoved with PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 players once again able to play online.
Yesterday at around 8:30 PM ET/ 5: 30 PM PT, PSN went down suddenly. Players across PS5 and PS4 were unable to play multiplayer games, access party chats, navigate the store, or hunt for Trophies. Every online service connected to each PlayStation system was affected, including “Other, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, Web,” according to the official PSN Service Status page. However, after eight or so hours, PSN appears to be up an running again.
“This problem has now been resolved,” the Japanese Ask PlayStation customer support account said this morning. “We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience caused.” While the major root of the issue may have been resolved, some players are still experiencing issues regarding connectivity on their consoles. However, it may just be a matter of these fixes rolling out globally.
Throughout the outage, it was impossible to log into PSN, play games online, or deal with any online connectivity service. If attempting to launch a game requiring an internet connection, “PS5 error Code WS-116522-7” would be brought up on screen.
Aside from the customer support account page, PlayStation has not acknlowledged the outage nor the reasonings behind it. When the outage began, players rushed to X (formally Twitter) and Reddit to report their own experiences before it was clear the outage was on a global scale.
