Amazon has announced the launch of its new Fire HD 8 tablets, featuring better performance and new AI-powered tools aimed at boosting productivity.
The refreshed Fire HD 8 lineup, which begins shipping today, includes an 8-inch HD display, 50% more RAM, and improved storage options (microSD slot can support up to 1TB of storage).
As part of the launch, Amazon is offering intro promo pricing for the Fire HD 8 from $119.99 CAD, with discounts of up to 50% during the Prime Big Deal Days event on October 8-9.
The new Fire HD 8 offers up to 13 hours of battery life and an upgraded 5MP rear camera. It also comes in three colours: Black, Hibiscus, and Emerald.
Kid-friendly versions, Fire HD 8 Kids and Fire HD 8 Kids Pro, will also receive performance boosts and include a two-year worry-free guarantee, with cases available in fun designs like Disney Pixar Cars and Marvel Avengers.
In addition to hardware upgrades, Amazon is rolling out generative AI-powered features across its Fire tablet family.
New tools include Writing Assist, which helps users refine writing with grammar suggestions, tone adjustments, and even the option to add emojis.
Webpage Summaries brings key points from web articles in the Silk browser, providing quick insights without needing to scroll through lengthy content. Wallpaper Creator lets users generate custom wallpapers by typing a description, producing unique, high-resolution images for tablet home screens.
These new features will start appearing on compatible Fire tablets later in October.
