Anthropic Launches Upgraded AI Models, Breakthrough “Computer Use” Capability
Anthropic has just unveiled two new AI models—Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Claude 3.5 Haiku—alongside a revolutionary feature called “computer use” that allows AI to interact with computers in ways similar to humans.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet brings significant improvements over its predecessor, especially in coding and tool use tasks. The new model has achieved higher scores across industry benchmarks, particularly in agentic coding tasks.
For example, its performance on the SWE-bench Verified test jumped from 33.4% to 49.0%, surpassing competing AI models like OpenAI’s o1-preview and other specialized coding systems.
This enhanced capability makes Claude 3.5 Sonnet a strong choice for developers seeking powerful AI solutions for complex tasks. Its ability to handle coding, reasoning, and multi-step problem-solving with precision has been widely praised by early testers
Anthropic has also introduced Claude 3.5 Haiku, a high-speed model designed to balance top-tier performance with affordability. Despite its cost-effectiveness, Claude 3.5 Haiku surpasses many previous-generation models, including Claude 3 Opus, in key intelligence benchmarks.
The model’s low latency and enhanced tool use capabilities allow developers to build more responsive applications. Claude 3.5 Haiku will be available on platforms like Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI later this month.

One of the most exciting developments from Anthropic is the introduction of “computer use,” a public beta feature that allows AI to interact with computers the way humans do.
This groundbreaking ability enables Claude to perceive computer screens, move cursors, click buttons, and even type text. Companies like Replit, Asana, and Canva are already exploring this new capability to automate tasks that require dozens or even hundreds of steps.
To ensure the safe deployment of this new feature, Anthropic has developed classifiers that can detect when computer use is being exploited for harmful purposes.
