Legion Poppies Selling Fast on Amazon: Buy Now to Support Veterans

In a first-time partnership with Amazon Canada, the Royal Canadian Legion is making it easier to get a lapel poppy online.
Through a new storefront on Amazon.ca, Canadians can donate $2, $5, $10, or $20 to receive a poppy until November 11. All funds raised will go directly to the Legion’s Poppy Trust Fund, which supports veterans and their families.
The online store also offers “We Remember” lawn signs and red neon window poppies, which will be available year-round to help Canadians show their support.
Nujma Bond, the Legion’s national spokesperson, shared that this initiative is about adapting to modern shopping habits. “As the world around us evolves, we have been looking at different ways to distribute poppies and to make it easier for people to access them,” she told the Canadian Press.
“This is definitely a way to reach a wider number of Canadians of all ages. And certainly younger Canadians are much more active on the web, on social media in general, so we’re also engaging in that way.”
Since the store launched on October 25, nearly 10,000 orders for poppies have been placed, according to the Legion. Click here to buy your poppy and support the Legion on Amazon.ca. It’s a great idea when most people aren’t carrying cash to drop into Legion donation boxes (but tap-to-pay boxes are available).
