M4 Mac Mini Teardown Reveals Apple’s Design Secrets [VIDEO]
Apple’s latest M4 Mac Mini has been making waves for its smaller design, and now iFixit has peeled back the curtain on how Apple managed to pack so much power into a compact form factor.

iFixit’s 2024 Mac Mini teardown reveals insights into the device’s internal structure, modular storage capabilities, and much more, giving tech enthusiasts a detailed look at the inner workings of this innovative machine.
One of the key features of the M4 Mac Mini is its dramatically reduced size. Apple’s redesign allows the device to be more compact without compromising performance. According to iFixit, Apple achieved this by using a smaller power supply, which is similar to the one found in its HomePod speakers.
Despite the smaller size, Apple managed to keep all the critical components intact, showcasing their ability to optimize internal space while maintaining the same high-performance standards users expect from a Mac Mini.
One of the standout revelations from iFixit’s teardown is the M4 Mac Mini’s modular storage system. Unlike many of Apple’s previous designs, the SSD (solid-state drive) in the new Mac Mini is not soldered to the motherboard, meaning users can upgrade their storage more easily.
iFixit awarded the M4 Mac Mini a repairability score of 7 out of 10, which is a respectable rating for modern tech devices. Apple has made several components, such as the SSD, relatively easy to remove and replace. Additionally, iFixit noted that Apple provides detailed manuals, further aiding in repairs and upgrades.
