How to Use macOS Sequoia’s Window Tiling Features [VIDEO]

With macOS Sequoia, Apple has introduced a streamlined way to organize your workspace by letting you arrange app windows side-by-side or in customized layouts, reducing desktop clutter.

Dubbed ‘window tiling,’ the feature allows users to snap windows to specific sections of their screens. Whether you want two apps to share equal screen space or wish to arrange multiple apps at once, macOS Sequoia gives you flexible options.

Here are the primary methods to activate window tiling:

  • Drag to Edge: Move a window to the edge of your screen. Release it when a highlighted area appears, indicating the window’s new position.
  • Option Key Assistance: Hold the Option key while dragging the window. This method provides quicker snapping options and ensures precise placement in highlighted sections.
  • Green Button: Click the green button at the top-left corner of an app window. Select “Tile Window to Left” or “Tile Window to Right” to split the screen evenly.
  • Menu Options: Some apps offer tiling controls within their menus, which can be accessed via the menu bar.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Advanced users can use customizable shortcuts for faster access to tiling features.
  • Menu Bar Dragging: By dragging a window to the top menu bar, the app can fill the entire screen.

Window tiling can be toggled on or off in the System Settings. This customization lets users tailor their desktop experience based on personal preferences.
