Apple’s Holiday Ad Spotlights AirPods 2 as Affordable Hearing Aid
Apple has released its annual holiday commercial, “Heartstrings,” which delivers a touching narrative while highlighting an innovative feature of the AirPods Pro 2: their ability to function as hearing aids.

This year’s ad focuses on inclusivity, portraying a father with hearing loss who reconnects with his family through this innovative technology, underscoring the emotional impact of clear communication.
The short film, created by TBWA\Media Arts Lab and directed by Henry-Alex Rubin, begins with the father struggling to hear the joyous sounds of his family on Christmas morning. His experience dramatically shifts when he uses the AirPods Pro 2’s clinical-grade hearing aid mode.
The ad captures intimate flashbacks of the father’s challenges with hearing loss, emphasizing how Apple’s technology brings families closer during cherished moments.
The AirPods Pro 2’s hearing aid capabilities, introduced as part of a free firmware update, mark a significant step in accessible technology. Users can perform a clinically validated hearing test via their iPhone or iPad, creating a personalized profile for enhanced audio clarity in real-world settings
The feature, certified by the FDA, offers an affordable alternative to traditional hearing aids and caters to individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss. It is available in countries like the United States, Germany, and Japan, although Canada is yet to receive AirPods Pro’s hearing aid capabilities.
