Amazon has released its 2024 Impact Report, which has revealed significant strides in its operations, workforce, and community contributions across Canada.

The company now employs more than 46,000 people nationwide, with over 70 logistics and operations facilities supporting its expanding presence. Among this year’s developments is the opening of a massive 2.8-million-square-foot robotics fulfillment center in Calgary, along with new delivery stations in Burnaby, Calgary, Ottawa, and other cities.

Prime members in regions such as Toronto, Vancouver, and southwestern Ontario are benefiting from faster Same-Day Delivery options, including new time windows to make deliveries even more convenient. There are now over 4,500 towns and cities that are eligible for Prime free One-Day delivery, said Amazon in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

Amazon has also ramped up its community initiatives. This year it partnered with the Royal Canadian Legion to offer lapel Poppies and Remembrance items for sale on Amazon.ca, which helped donations surge thanks to the digital storefront.

In Montreal’s Saint-Michel neighbourhood, Amazon Web Services launched Canada’s first AWS Think Big Space, providing students and educators with hands-on opportunities to explore coding, robotics, and other STEM fields.

On the sustainability front, Amazon took a step toward reducing waste by eliminating plastic air pillows from its Canadian packaging as of October 2024. Amazon says it has invested over $50 billion CAD in Canada since 2010.

Amazon’s huge presence in Canada is below and continues to keep growing. It’s just too easy to shop by tapping a few buttons on your phone.

All of that does a fat load of good when the packages are often delivered to the wrong place and Amazon ends up having to send the item again. It's seriously a daily occurrence where I live.
