Google has introduced exciting updates to its AI assistant including “Deep Research,” a groundbreaking mew feature in Gemini Advanced, as well as access to the experimental Gemini 2.0 Flash model.

Deep Research aims to revolutionize online research by handling complex inquiries and delivering comprehensive reports in just minutes. This feature allows users to input a research question, prompting Gemini to create a step-by-step research plan.

Once approved, the AI browses the web autonomously, analyzing information, and refining its findings through iterative searches. The resulting report is detailed, organized, and exportable to Google Docs, complete with links to original sources. This capability not only saves users hours of manual research but also provides insights they might have overlooked otherwise.

Whether it’s a graduate student analyzing autonomous vehicle technology or an entrepreneur conducting competitor research, Deep Research is designed to handle diverse and intricate needs.

The tool leverages Google’s expertise in online information retrieval, combined with Gemini’s advanced reasoning and expansive context window, to produce precise and easy-to-understand insights. It is currently available in English for Gemini Advanced users on desktop and mobile web, with a mobile app release slated for early 2025.

In addition to Deep Research, Google has unveiled the Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental model, offering users a preview of the next generation of AI technology.

This chat-optimized model delivers enhanced speed and performance, surpassing its predecessors on key benchmarks. It supports multimodal inputs, including text, images, and videos, making it a versatile tool for developers and end-users alike.

While the model is still in its early stages and not all Gemini features are compatible with it yet, users can experience its capabilities via the Gemini drop-down menu on desktop and mobile web. A mobile app release is expected soon.
