How to Watch The Game Awards 2024 and What to Expect

The Game Awards, the video game industry’s annual award show, is being held on Thursday, December 12th, 2024. The award show is being held in Los Angeles, California and will be live-streamed for global audiences online.
The annual ceremony, recognizing this year’s best games, is once again being organized and hosted by Ontario’s Geoff Keighley. As tradition dictates, the night will honour the games and studios that have delivered memorable experiences to players. The night will also serve brand new game trailers and announcements alongside live musical performances.
The Game Awards 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the award show. Keighley and the award show team have already begun teasing and announcing some exciting things to look forward to. The Game Awards 2024 begins promptly at 4:30 pm PT/7:30 pm ET with a 30-minute live show. The marquee event starts right after. You can tune in by watching the live stream on the official pages across Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, X (Twitter), or YouTube.
Last month, The Game Awards announced all the final nominees and categories that are set to be a part of the night. This year’s award show includes 30 categories with many notable games nominated for awards. This includes games such as Balatro, Astro Bot, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Black Myth: Wukong, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, all of which are nominated for ‘Game of the Year’. Alongside Balatro, other Canadian-developed games involved this year include Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Star Wars Outlaws, and EA Sports FC25.
The Game Awards will also debut brand-new looks at upcoming games for 2025 and beyond. Ahead of the show, it’s been revealed that trailers for Borderlands 4, Dying Light: The Beast, Mafia: The Old Country, Tekken 8, and Warframe 1999. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. This year being the 10th anniversary of the award show, rumours are already mounting as major announcements are believed to be made during the night.
If you’ve seen a previous year’s installment of The Game Awards, you know that notable presenters and celebrity guests are always incorporated. This year, it’s announced that Snoop Dogg and Twenty One Pilots will be performing music live at the Peacock Theatre. Composer Lorne Balfe will also be featured once again, conducting the end-of-the-night orchestra, featuring songs from every Game of the Year nominee. Announced presenters this year include Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, plus famed game directors Hideo Kojima, Todd Howard, and Sam Lake. From Prime Video’s Fallout, Ella Purnell will take the stage as well as Isabela Merced.
