ResMed Creates Strap for Apple Vision Pro, But Not in Canada Yet

Apple has partnered with ResMed, a top manufacturer of CPAP machines, to create a new head strap for the Apple Vision Pro, aimed at improving comfort during extended wear.
Now this is an unexpected collab that wasn’t on our 2024 Apple bingo card.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said yesterday, “One of the leading makers of CPAP (sleep apnea) machines and masks has unbelievably taken it upon itself to fix the Vision Pro discomfort.”
The ResMed Kontor Head Strap is available exclusively in the U.S. for $120 through Apple’s online store. It’s not available in Canada yet, but likely will make its way here at some point since the Vision Pro is sold here.
The head strap is designed to distribute the weight of the Vision Pro headset, making it more comfortable to wear for longer periods. It is made with soft, high-quality materials that are gentle on the skin and includes six modular counterweights for better balance.

People have complained about the weight of the Vision Pro and this headstrap aims to alleviate those concerns. RedMed makes numerous head straps for its CPAP masks, so it clearly has more experience here than Apple.
You need to spend $4,995 CAD for Vision Pro here but you need third party straps to make it comfortable for long usage. That can be a tough pill to swallow.
ResMed developed the strap using data from thousands of 3D head and facial scans, ensuring a custom fit for most users. Two sizes are available: a standard size for medium to large headbands and a smaller option for those with smaller head sizes.
The Kontor Head Strap is expected to address a key concern for users who find the Vision Pro’s weight uncomfortable during prolonged use. Buyers in the U.S. can purchase it now, with a 12-month warranty provided by ResMed. Canada should get this in 2025, hopefully.
