iPhone 16 Series Earns Top Spots in MKBHD Smartphone Awards 2024
Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee, popularly known as MKBHD, has unveiled his much-anticipated 2024 Smartphone Awards, spotlighting some of the year’s most impressive devices.

While Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro claimed the award for Best Camera, the standard iPhone 16 surprised many by earning the title of Best Small Phone. However, the coveted “Phone of the Year” award went to Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, which also snagged the Best Big Phone award.
The iPhone 16 Pro maintained Apple’s reputation for industry-leading photography and videography by winning the Best Camera award. Despite facing competition from technically advanced camera systems like the Vivo X200 Pro, Brownlee praised the iPhone 16 Pro’s overall performance.
It excelled not just in capturing stunning photos but also with its professional-grade video recording capabilities. Brownlee acknowledged he “hates that iPhones keep winning this category,” but Apple’s ability to deliver an unmatched overall package secured its top spot.
In an era where smartphones continue to grow larger, the iPhone 16’s recognition as the Best Small Phone reflects a shift in industry standards. Sporting a 6.1-inch display, the iPhone 16 would have once been considered midsized or even large. However, with the discontinuation of compact form factors like the iPhone mini in 2022, the device now represents one of the more manageable options for users.
Brownlee described the iPhone 16 as “the most complete base iPhone ever made,” highlighting its incorporation of premium features traditionally reserved for the Pro lineup.
