Netflix Releases ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Teaser Featuring Adam Sandler
Netflix today delighted fans by releasing the first teaser for “Happy Gilmore 2,” marking Adam Sandler’s return to one of his most iconic roles nearly three decades after the original film’s debut.

The teaser, approximately 30 seconds in length, showcases Sandler reprising his role as Happy Gilmore, the unconventional hockey-player-turned-golfer. The sequel introduces a blend of returning characters and new faces, promising an engaging continuation of the beloved 1996 comedy.
The sequel is directed by Kyle Newacheck, recognized for his work on Netflix’s “Murder Mystery,” which also starred Sandler. The screenplay is co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, maintaining the creative duo that penned the original film.
According to Netflix, Happy Gilmore 2 is slated for a 2025 release on the streaming platform, with filming reported to have concluded in November 2024. While an exact release date has not been confirmed, industry sources anticipate a premiere in the summer or early fall of 2025.
The original Happy Gilmore, released in 1996, became a cult classic, grossing over $41 million against a $12 million budget. The film followed Happy Gilmore, a failed hockey player who discovers a talent for golf, entering tournaments to save his grandmother’s house. The movie was celebrated for its humor and Sandler’s portrayal of the titular character, earning an MTV Movie Award.
