Netflix Confirms Big Audience Milestones for Christmas NFL Games

Netflix has announced some milestones and stats following its big NFL streams on Christmas Day. With Neilsen ratings in hand, it’s been revealed that Netflix’s stint has become “the most-streamed NFL games in US history.”
According to the streamer, Netflix saw an unprecedented amount of viewers during the day. Breaking records for both Netflix and the NFL, 65 million US viewers tuned in for the Ravens-Texans game and the Chiefs-Steelers game. The Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens game received a 24.3M AMA (average minute audience). The Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers game, on the other hand, saw a 24.1M AMA. Combined, this achieved close to the 65 million US viewership touted by Netflix.
Netflix also announced that on social media, #BeyonceBowl became the number one worldwide trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) as soon as her performance began. Netflix captured 10 out of the 12 trending topics in the US on Christmas Day. Netflix has confirmed that the Beyonce Bowl halftime show will remain on the service as a standalone VOD.
“Bringing our members this record-breaking day of two NFL games was the best Christmas gift we could have delivered,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer. “We’re thankful for our partnership with the NFL, all of our wonderful on-air talent, and let’s please not forget the electrifying Beyoncé and the brilliant Mariah Carey.”
This is the first year of a three-year contract between Netflix and the NFL. For the next two years, Christmas Day games will be streamed on the service for worldwide audiences. “We’re thrilled with our first Christmas Gameday on Netflix with NFL games being streamed to a global audience,” said Hans Schroeder, NFL executive vice president of media distribution. “Fans in all 50 states and over 200 countries around the world watched some of the league’s brightest stars along with a dazzling performance by Beyoncé in a historic day for the NFL.”
The streaming experience itself was an overall improvement over last month’s Mike Tyson v. Jake Paul boxing event. Netflix was under heavy scrutiny due to buffering and bit rate issues. The Christmas Day NFL stream was only affected by minor hitches, despite a 65 million viewership in the US.

It's too bad the Baltimore game was so one sided.
