Apple Watch Series 4 Officially Declared Vintage

Apple has officially added the Apple Watch Series 4 to its list of vintage products, reminding customers the device is no longer a part of the company’s active lineup, as noted by MacRumors.

The Apple Watch Series 4 was a game-changer when it was released in 2018. It introduced a fresh design with a thinner, more streamlined case and a significant boost in screen size—offering a 30% larger display compared to its predecessors.

However, as technology evolves, Apple has now moved past the Series 4, and the device is being officially retired as the company adds it to the list of vintage products. A product is classified as vintage by Apple when it has been five years since the company stopped selling it, making it eligible for limited repair services if parts are available.

In addition to being added to the vintage list, the Apple Watch Series 4 also lost compatibility with the latest version of Apple’s watchOS. The watchOS 11 update, which launched alongside Apple’s new devices in 2025, no longer supports the Series 4, as well as the Series 5 and the original Apple Watch SE.

In addition to the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple has also added the 15-inch MacBook Pro from May 2019 to the vintage list. Although this model was only available for a brief period before being replaced by the 16-inch MacBook Pro later that year, it still holds significance for users who purchased it in its short lifespan.

While the Series 4 is now officially considered vintage, Apple’s focus is clearly on its latest smartwatch models, such as the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra. These devices feature cutting-edge health and performance tracking, larger displays, and integration with Apple’s growing suite of health-related features.
