Spotify Partner Program Offers New Monetization System in Canada and Other Regions

Today, the Spotify Partner Program is launching in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia. The new monetization system creates new avenues for video creators to grow their audiences and profit from their content.
Announced earlier during Spotify’s Now Playing event, the program allows creators to access “multiple revenue streams” across the platform. This includes audience-driven payouts from Spotify Premium video engagement as well as the ability to monetize using ads in Spotify Free. With this dual-pronged approach, Spotify aims for creators to have flexibility and control over their revenue streams while growing their audience on the platform.
Since announcing the Spotify Partner Program in November, the company claims that 60 percent of eligible shows and networks have enrolled. As of the time of writing, we still don’t know how much creators have the potential to earn revenue from supporting Spotify’s video arm.
The focus on the Spotify Partner Program is also said to enhance the user experience. As Spotify invests in its video catalogue, users can expect to gain access to benefits and enhancements to the viewing experience. Paying Premium members can watch videos without interruptions from third-party ads. However, while a creator’s baked-in ads will continue to remain in any episode, Spotify’s dynamic ads won’t interrupt the video.
If you are a current creator, you’ll need to be hosted and uploaded through Spotify for Creators in order to be eligible for the Spotify Partner Program. Other criteria include having at least two episodes published and at least 100 unique listeners in the last 60 days. For more information, check the official website.
