Schlage’s New Smart Locks Support Apple Hands-Free Feature

Schlage has announced two new smart locks at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas today: the Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt and the Schlage Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt.

The Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt offers hands-free unlocking using new technology called Schlage Converge. This feature uses Ultra Wideband (UWB; found in the iPhone, for example) to sense a user’s approach and automatically unlock the door when they reach it. This just makes for an even more seamless way to unlock the door when your hands are full.

Other options include keypad codes and NFC tap-to-unlock. The lock will also be compatible with Matter-over-Thread, a new smart home standard for better device connectivity.

The Schlage Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt is Schlage’s first push-button keypad with built-in WiFi, meaning it doesn’t need an extra hub to connect to the internet.

Homeowners can manage up to 250 access codes, track usage history, and get notifications through the Schlage Home app. The lock is designed to be easy for first-time smart lock users.

Both locks work with the updated Schlage Home iOS and Android app, coming in early 2025. The app will allow users to manage locks remotely, control multiple properties, and lock or unlock all doors with one button.

“With the coming launches of the Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt and Schlage Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt, we are excited to continue our legacy of commitment to innovation in home security,” said David Perozzi, general manager of Allegion Home, in a statement to iPhone in Canada.

“As our first smart lock that will be Matter-over-Thread compatible, Schlage Sense Pro redefines home access, offering an intuitive hands-free unlocking experience and seamless smart home integration. Schlage Arrive provides a simple and secure WiFi solution that is an easy upgrade for first-time smart lock users and those looking to add smart security to more doors throughout their home.”

The Schlage Sense Pro Smart Deadbolt will be released later in 2025, while the Schlage Arrive Smart WiFi Deadbolt will be available in late spring 2025. Stay tuned as we’ll update you soon with Canadian pricing when available.
