OnePlus has launched its latest smartphones, the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R in Canada this week as part of CES 2025 announcements.

The OnePlus 13 launched sales in Canada and the U.S. on January 7, while the OnePlus 13R will debut on January 14. The new models feature upgraded hardware, improved cameras, and enhanced AI functionality.

OnePlus 13 Features

The OnePlus 13 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and has up to 16GB of RAM for multitasking. It includes a 6,000mAh Silicon NanoStack battery for extended usage and a slim profile.

The phone features a triple-camera system, including 50MP main, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses, developed in partnership with Hasselblad, yet again. AI enhancements such as AI Telephoto, AI Unblur, and AI Detail Boost improve photo quality. The Dual Exposure Algorithm allows users to capture sharp images even in fast-moving situations.

Its 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display has a 120Hz refresh rate and is rated A++ by DisplayMate for clarity and colour accuracy. It also includes TÜV Rheinland Eye Care 4.0 certification for reduced eye strain. The OnePlus 13 has IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance and is MIL-STD-810H certified for toughness.

Colour options including Midnight Ocean, Arctic Dawn, and Black Eclipse. Midnight Ocean features vegan microfiber leather, while Arctic Dawn offers a fingerprint-resistant glass coating. Powered by its Android fork, OxygenOS 15, customers will get AI-based tools like Circle to Search and Intelligent Search, as well as Aqua Touch 2.0 for touch responsiveness even through gloves.

OnePlus 13R Features

The entry-level OnePlus 13R has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 6,000mAh battery.

The camera system includes a 50MP main lens with the Sony LYT-700 sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS) for enhanced low-light performance. A 50MP telephoto lens offers 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. AI features also bring better low-light and action shots.

The device has a 6.78-inch 1.5K ProXDR flat display with TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 4.0 certification. It similarly supports Aqua Touch 2.0 for touch sensitivity through residue and gloves. The display also uses frame interpolation to enhance 60fps games to 120fps for smoother gaming experiences.

The OnePlus 13R features Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and back for scratch resistance and durability, as well as an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance. The phone is MIL-STD-810H certified for toughness. It is available in two colours, Nebula Noir and Astral Trail.

Early Bird pricing on the OnePlus website for the OnePlus 13 512Gb model is $1,099.99 with the "any device, any condition" recycling reward of $150 applied. Quite the bargain as compared with the competition, especially when the free included gifts are also factored in. BestBuy also has stock, is offering a discounted price and a $150 store credit.

You get what you pay for and even less with the OnePlus. Intelligent people in North America will not buy this China crap regardless of the price.

You might be right, but the initial reviews have been favourable. Get on to youtube and have a peak at the comparables. It blows apple out in a few areas for a whole lot less money.

No thanks. Reliability, warranty, customary paying for shipping, glitches, et al. Not worth it. Buy a Samsung , Pixel, or Sony flagship if you want Android. Although I wouldn't suggest the Pixel for the lack of authorized service centre and reliability.
