Nintendo has yet to officially unveil its next-generation console, but recent leaks have offered a glimpse into what fans can expect from the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 (via 91Mobiles).

Thanks to OnLeaks, some high-quality renders and a detailed 360-degree video provide the first look at the console, showcasing significant upgrades in design and functionality.

The most noticeable upgrade in the leaked renders is the larger display. The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to feature an expansive 8.4-inch screen, making it significantly bigger than the 7-inch OLED panel on the current Switch OLED model. While the panel type remains unconfirmed, it is speculated to be an OLED for vibrant visuals and sharp contrasts.

Accompanying the larger screen are revamped Joy-Con controllers, which appear slightly bigger than their predecessors. The layout remains familiar with buttons such as ‘+’, ‘-’, the D-Pad, and thumbsticks. However, an intriguing new button is visible above the ‘Home’ button on the right Joy-Con.

Additionally, redesigned trigger buttons near the ‘ZL’ and ‘ZR’ might serve dual purposes, including detaching the Joy-Cons.

The renders also highlight several improvements aimed at enhancing usability:

  • The power button and volume rocker are conveniently placed, while a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port ensure easy charging and accessory compatibility.
  • At the back, the Switch 2 appears to feature a robust ‘U’-shaped kickstand. This design surpasses the sturdiness of the original Switch and Switch OLED kickstands
  • Two speaker openings and guide pins for docking are visible at the bottom.

The console is rumoured to include a game card slot, suggesting backward compatibility with existing Nintendo Switch titles—a crucial feature for fans of the extensive Switch library.

While leaks hint at an exciting future, fans eagerly await confirmation from Nintendo as the Switch 2 could redefine portable gaming once again.
