Netflix Just Increased Prices in Canada: Here are the Changes
Netflix is increasing prices for most of its plans in Canada, according to its latest Q4 shareholder letter from today.
The streaming service saw revenue up 16% year-over-year to $10.2 billion US, while it now has 301.6 million subscribers globally, with Q4 adding 18.9 million subs. That’s a good quarter for Netflix, which has sent its stock surging 14% in after hours trading.
The streaming giant says the price changes are part of ongoing efforts to invest in programming and improve its service. You know, like what we saw with Mike Tyson boxing matches, live NFL games and the new WWE deal…right?
Here are the new Netflix prices in Canada (the US, Portugal and Argentina also so price increases):
- Standard with Ads: Increases by $2 to $7.99/month (was $5.99)
- Standard: Jumps $2.50 to $18.99/month (was $16.49)
- Premium: Rises by $3 to $23.99/month (was $20.99)
- Extra Member Fees: No changes to the cost of adding extra members, still at $7.99/month each
The new prices apply immediately for new subscribers. Current members will see the updated rates on their next billing cycle, reports the Canadian Press.
Back in January 2022, Netflix increased its prices in Canada. In October 2023, the U.S. saw a price increase and many including ourselves suspected a price increase was going to follow in Canada.
Netflix also announced the rollout of its first-party ad tech platform in Canada, which has now fully transitioned to in-house ad serving. This platform aims to provide advertisers with improved targeting, expanded programmatic options, and better reporting. Netflix plans to expand the platform to other markets, starting with the U.S. in April of this year.

I get my Netflix through Koodo Stream+ bundle. I wonder if they'll increase it by $2/month.
Same. Stream+ with Telus. If it goes up by the same amount prob still a good bundle.
A new hike again. I’ve checked. 5 years the premium plan ago was 19$ tax included. So it’s basically a 50% increase in 5 years. And what do I get more?
Article tells you: more content
who need more content? There is a billion of movies and shows. What we need is a reasonable price
Lmao what more repeats yay I'll pass
What are you going to do now that Netflix is going up in price?…. Let me tell you…. hello IPTV, here I come.
Been using Oceantide for three years and haven't looked back.
MovieBoxPro is the place to be. Family Plan for 4 devices is 35USD a year
I don’t watch enough Netflix to justify paying more for it so I’ll probably just turn it off. I can always reactivate it if I need it.
You won't need it though there are plenty of much better sites and pkgs else where , Netflix is old savage news !
Bye Bye NetfliX They were already overcharging as it was !!
