Microsoft Build Conference Starts on May 19th, Runs Until May 22

Microsoft Build has been announced to be taking place in Seattle once again this year. The multi-day developer conference will start on Monday, May 19th and run until Thursday, May 22nd.
As announced by Microsoft, the week-long developer conference will take place at the Seattle Convention Centre in the heart of Seattle. Close to Microsoft’s Redmond, Washington HQ, the conference will usher in a week of announcements and updates.
Unforunately, Microsoft hasn’t indicated what’ll be discussed during Microsoft Build this year. However, AI will likely be of the utmost focus. In 2024, Microsoft Build was used to discuss the Copilot+ PC service platform. During its opening keynote, CEO Satya Nadella discussed the many investments into Copilot and Azure.
The biggest initiative to come from Microsoft Build 2024 was the Copilot+ PC platform. Launched in June, Microsoft began leveraging Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series chips to power the AI features. Since launch, Copilot+ PCs have supported not only Snapdragon processors but the latest chips from AMD and Intel. Last year’s Microsoft Build conference also announced the first step of Copilot integration into Xbox.
This year, it’s rumoured that Microsoft may be looking to launch a new and smaller Surface Pro and Surface Laptop. A year off the heels of the first Snapdragon X Surface devices, it may be time for a new series of follow-ups. According to Windows Central, they’ll be based around Windows on Arm, the new devices are said to be lighter but still retain the “premium” designs. The new devices are said to feature display sizes around 11 or 12 inches. The devices are expected to ship sometime this spring.
There’s no word on how much of Microsoft Build will be accessible to remote audiences. However, given the information that came from last year’s conference, it’ll be a week keep an eye out on if you’re invested in the Microsoft ecosystem.
