ChatGPT AI Search Engine Now Freely Available to All Users
To enhance user accessibility, OpenAI has announced that its ChatGPT search feature is now available to all users without the need for account registration. This allows individuals to utilize the AI-powered search engine directly through chatgpt.com.

Initially introduced in October 2024 as SearchGPT, the feature was first accessible to paid subscribers. By December 2024, it expanded to include all logged-in users. The latest update removes the sign-up requirement entirely.
An OpenAI representative highlighted that, akin to the experience of logged-in users, ChatGPT can search the web to deliver prompt and up-to-date responses, complete with pertinent links to online sources. Depending on the nature of the user’s query, ChatGPT will either automatically initiate a web search or provide users with the option to do so manually.
The ChatGPT search feature distinguishes itself by offering real-time, relevant information from the web, including images and links that cite their data sources. This functionality is presented in a format reminiscent of traditional search engines, enhancing user familiarity and ease of use.
The removal of the sign-up requirement positions ChatGPT’s search feature as a direct competitor to established search engines like Google and Bing.
In addition to text-based responses, the updated ChatGPT search now features a more traditional search engine interface, including maps and images of local attractions along with brief descriptions.
