Herman Miller Announces New Height-Adjustable Standing Desk for $4,300

Herman Miller has announced a new sit-to-stand height adjustable desk. Known as the Spout standing desk, this new discrete piece of furniture is capable of lifting 350 lbs and will run you $4,300 in Canada.
The Herman Miller Spout looks like a traditional desk. However, built into its subtle design are two columns used to raise and lower the desk portion of the piece. “Spout Sit-to-Stand Table pairs the elegance of a classic desk with the versatility and function of a modern height-adjustable surface,” the company states.
Herman Miller’s Spout offers three varying dimensions for consumers to choose from. The base model is 23 x 46 inches and has a minimum height of 27 inches and a maximum height of 46 inches. However, there is also a 29 x 58-inch model and a 35 x 70-inch design. Each comes with a small variety of finishes, including ‘Veneer Walnut,’ ‘Laminate Studio White,’ and ‘Veneer Clear on Ash.’ Additionally, you’ll find seven base finish colours Spout Sit-to-Stand Table pairs the elegance of a classic desk with the versatility and function of a modern height-adjustable surface. Each model comes with optional wheels making the units easier to move.
What’s notable about the Herman Miller Spout is the optional cable tray that can be purchased. The tray hangs underneath the desk and can provide a much cleaner look. Cables can be gathered and stored in the tray. There are still cable management systems built into the unit, including clips to secure a power cable or USB-C cord onto one leg.
The Spout sit-to-stand height adjustable desk also includes a headset clip on one side to help with storing a pair of headphones when not in use. Herman Miller also built a storage drawer onto one side of the desk. It looks to be sizeable enough to store accessories, charging cables, or a laptop if desired.
Herman Miller’s Spout is the first of its products to support the Ello Power accessories. Built into the unit are two USB-C ports that can offer power of up to 100W, which is more than enough to charge a smartphone or laptop. It’s worth noting that when both are in use, power output drops to 65W. However, additional USB-C ports can be purchased for installation.
The Spout desk is a welcomed addition to Herman Miller’s catalogue of products. The only deterrent that’ll likely affect customers is the $4,300 starting price of the units. Once purchased, the company claims the unit will ship to consumers in three weeks.
