First Look at the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 at the Canadian International AutoShow

The Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS) will be held in Toronto starting February 14. Here, you’ll be able to see the North American debut of the wildly impressive LEGO Technic McLaren P1.

Throughout the CIAS, which is taking place in Toronto’s Metro Convention Centre, a life-sized McLaren P1 replica is located at the LEGO Group booth, found in the South Building. It’ll be available to see all throughout the event. Ahead of the opening day, iPhone in Canada had the opportunity to check out the replica. It’s certainly not one to miss.

Comprised of more than 340,000 LEGO Technic elements, the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 is a true-to-life replica of the real McLaren P1. If you need even more proof, there is an actual McLauren P1 on display right behind the LEGO creation. This way, you can take it all in and compare the impressive details. This is the first time those in North America can set their eyes on the vehicle. The creation of the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 took roughly 8,344 hours to complete, according to LEGO. It was created by a design team comprised of 23 individuals. The total weight of the vehicle is 837 lbs.

It’s a genuine feat of excellence. To see the small details within the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 replica is almost something you need to witness for yourself. Everything from the headlights, the dashboard, the rearview mirrors, and of course, the body, is all comprised of LEGO bricks. Understandably, the replica design does feature authentic Pirelli tires. However, even the breakpads hidden behind the wheel are made of LEGO pieces.

McLaren Formula 1 Team driver Lando Norris had the opportunity to test drive the world’s first drivable LEGO Technic McLaren P1 at Silverstone prior to its North American debut.

Stationed alongside the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 is a fully buildable, scaled-down LEGO Technic McLaren P1. This kit is comprised of 3,893 pieces and captures the beauty and authenticity of the real McLauren P1. It’s also really novel to see the comparisons between the full-scale build and the purchasable McLaren P1 set, available for $589.99 in Canada.

If you’re in Toronto, consider attending the CIAS from February 14 to February 23 to see the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 yourself. More information on the CIAS can be found on the official website.
