iOS 18.4 Beta Nears Release, iOS 18.5 Testing Underway
Apple’s development team has commenced testing of iOS 18.5 amid reports suggesting potential delays in the rollout of Apple Intelligence enhancements for Siri, originally slated for iOS 18.4 (via MacRumors).

Unveiled during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024, the forthcoming Apple Intelligence features aim to significantly upgrade Siri’s capabilities. Key enhancements include:
- On-Screen Awareness: Enables Siri to interpret and respond based on the current app or content displayed, providing contextually relevant assistance.
- Personal Context Understanding: Allows Siri to access and utilize user-specific information, such as emails and messages, to offer personalized responses.
- Enhanced Per-App Controls: Provides users with more granular control over Siri’s functionalities within individual applications.
For instance, users could inquire about a family member’s flight details or upcoming lunch reservations, with Siri retrieving pertinent information from the Mail and Messages apps. Despite the promising features, internal testing has revealed inconsistencies in performance, leading to considerations of postponing or limiting the release of these enhancements.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple may defer some of the new Siri functionalities to iOS 18.5, anticipated for release in May 2025. Alternatively, certain features might debut in iOS 18.4 but remain disabled by default, allowing additional time for refinement.
The initial beta version of iOS 18.4 is expected to be released to developers within the week.

Apple’s typical beta testing cycle suggests a public release in April 2025. However, the timeline for the Apple Intelligence features remains uncertain due to the reported issues
Users may need to wait until iOS 18.5 for full access to the new Siri capabilities.
