iOS 18.3 Download Released for iPhone and More: What’s New

Ios 18 3 hero release.

Apple has just released iOS 18.3 for iPhone and also iPadOS 18.3 for iPad, as expected.

For iOS 18.3, it’s coming in at about 922 MB, and Apple says it brings improvements to visual intelligence along with other enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.

What’s new in iOS 18.3? Release notes are below…

Visual intelligence with Camera Control (All iPhone 16 models)

Add an event to Calendar from a poster/flyer
Easily identify plants and animals

Notification summaries (All iPhone 16 models, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max)

Easily manage settings for notification summaries from Lock Screen
Updated style for summarized notifications better distinguishes them from other notifications by using italicized text as well as the glyph
Notification summaries for News and Entertainment apps are temporarily unavailable; users who opt-in will see them again when the feature becomes available

This update includes the following enhancements and bug fixes:

Calculator repeats the last mathematical operation when you tap the equals sign again
Fixes issue where the keyboard might disappear when initiating a typed Siri request
Resolves issue where audio playback continues until the song ends even after closing Apple Music

You can update your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

I was hoping to see the hearing test available for AirPods Pro 2 with the 18.3 update, but I guess not.

Nothing in last update involving Apple Intelligence that I needed. As it was then user-choice as to install or not, I chose not to.
Nothing in 18.3's version of it that appeals either, yet if I do the update, it will get installed (with no option to uninstall), regardless. And 'turning it off' is not the same thing as not installing – not the least of which is the storage taken up on the device and what it want in iCloud.
For the moment, choosing to not update. A whole lotta convincing will have to done to prove me wrong.
