Apple Just Axed These Older iPhones from its Website

iphone se discontinue

With today’s launch of the iPhone 16e, Apple has also discontinued its older iPhones on its website.

Specifically removed today include the iPhone SE, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. These older devices do not support Apple Intelligence and also are dating back to 2022 with their older A15 chips.

The biggest news from today is that an entry iPhone now costs significantly more in Canada.

Previously, the debut of the iPhone SE 3 in 2022 saw its pricing start at $579 for a 64GB version, which was a $20 price drop compared to before. Now, the iPhone 16e starts at 128GB with an $899 pricing in Canada. That’s a $320 price hike for an entry iPhone in Canada, even with the increased storage.

Sure, the low Loonie doesn’t help pricing (Apple looks to be hedging that CAD will continue to drop), but surely not everyone has $900 to drop on an iPhone. So what’s the best way to buy an iPhone for ‘cheap’? You may want to keep an eye out on Apple’s refurbished store for savings. For now, Apple Intelligence in its current form doesn’t seem to be winning over anybody, since the revamped Siri isn’t even here yet. It will be interesting to see how many people still holding onto older iPhones are going to upgrade this year.
