TikTok for Desktop Gets Revamped Layout, New Features

To mirror the beloved features of its mobile app, TikTok is rolling out a series of updates to its desktop platform, aiming to provide users with a more immersive viewing experience.

The revamped TikTok.com now boasts an optimized modular layout. This design includes a repositioned navigation bar, reducing on-screen distractions and allowing users to explore their feeds more seamlessly. The refreshed “For You” feed and the introduction of a new “Explore” tab make content discovery more intuitive.

Recognizing the growing popularity of gaming content, TikTok has also enhanced its LIVE streaming capabilities. Users can now broadcast in both portrait and landscape modes, offering a full-screen horizontal view for desktop audiences. Mobile viewers can simply rotate their devices to enjoy the same dynamic experience.

Another standout addition is the web-exclusive Floating Player, available exclusively on desktop via Google Chrome. This flexible floating window allows TikTok videos to remain visible above other windows, enabling users to multitask without missing out on their favorite content.

Moreover, TikTok has introduced a new “Collections” feature to help users organize their favorite videos. This allows users to categorize and store videos into custom folders, making it easier to revisit and share cherished content.

“Our users interact with TikTok in many different ways, which is why we’re excited to introduce these web app updates. By enhancing our desktop capabilities, we aim to bring TikTok’s handheld magic to desktop, providing an engaging experience with greater flexibility so you can enjoy TikTok anytime, anywhere,” said Cody Puckett, Product Manager at TikTok.
