Apple Reported to Reveal M4 MacBook Air This Week

Apple is expected to reveal its new MacBook Air, powered by the M4 chipset. It’s believed that an announcement could come “as early as this week,” according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
In the edition of Gurman’s Power On newsletter, it’s claimed that Apple could be refreshing the MacBook Air series with the more updated M4 chip. This would effectively bring the MacBook Air up to the level of the MacBook Pro series, which currently offers the latest processor.
Gurman also took to X (formerly Twitter) recently to discuss the announcement. “I expect the M4 MacBook Air to be introduced as early as this week. Inventory has significantly wound down and Apple is preparing a Mac-related announcement in the next few days.”
Apple will likely reveal a new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air, both sporting the M4 chipset. The M4 processor, which offers a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, has already launched and is widely used across Apple’s suite of devices, including the MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini. M4 devices launched in October of last year.
If Apple follows suit on similarly upgrading the MacBook Air to the MacBook Pro, we can expect to see an upgrade from 24GB of RAM to 32GB of RAM. It’s also speculated that the new devices could offer 120GB/s memory bandwidth, up from 100GB/s.
As with the M4 MacBook Pro, Apple could also adopt Center Stage for its new MacBook Air models. For the uninitiated, Center Stage is a relatively new feature which allows the upgraded 12-megapixel camera to keep you centred in the video. You’re able to move around, in say an office setting, and still be the focal point. Center Stage is available across FaceTime and Zoom.
If Apple does reveal its M4 MacBook Air this week, it’ll likely happen via a press release and an Apple Newsroom announcement. Much like the recent iPhone 16e, Apple is taking time to drip-feed announcements rather than host a larger event.
