Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite Review for 85-inch TVs

Govee 85 inch tv review 3.

I recently set up the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite with my 85-inch TCL Q-Series TV, and I’ve got to say, it’s pretty fantastic, for anyone looking to set up bias lighting. Thanks to Govee for sending this out our way.

Watching movies or gaming in a dark room now feels completely different—in a good way. The subtle bias lighting really helps cut down on eye strain, making it comfortable even for long sessions.

The colours this backlight puts out are really vivid and spot-on, matching the on-screen action impressively well. Whether I’m gaming or we’re settling in for a family movie night, everything feels more immersive and genuinely fun. Inside the box there’s detailed set up guides, alcohol prep wipes and configuration blocks (we didn’t use them yet and things have still synced up well).

You’ll need AC power to plug in the controller in the back that powers the camera and the light strip.

Installation was straightforward and a total breeze, even with my thin TV, thanks to the light strip that has 3M adhesive on the back. The strip comes in four sections which allows for corner bends. The camera technology with fish-eye correction works really well, capturing accurate colours and avoiding any weird distortions around the edges.

Plus, the included sticky clips provide extra security, ensuring the high-quality light strip won’t fall off the back of your TV, unlike cheaper LED strips I’ve tried before.

The suspended camera might draw some curious questions from friends and family at first, but once they see the impressive way the lights sync perfectly with the TV colours, they’re sold. Fortnite marathon? Yeah this will make sure you’re gaming session supports your eyes in a dark room.

I also appreciate the RGBIC+W lighting setup (each LED can show a different colour independently, plus there’s a dedicated white strip), which adds extra warmth and depth, especially noticeable during darker movie scenes. Using the Govee Home app or voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant makes controlling the lights effortless. A nice touch is the automatic shut-off when the screen is idle or blank, which saves energy. Our preference is to have colours sync to one colour across the entire light strip.

All in all, the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite has made our streaming and gaming experience way better. The kids and their friends really enjoy it as it makes for a fun gaming room. Highly recommended if you have a large screen and love creating the perfect atmosphere. Priced on sale at $119 on Amazon.ca right now (normally $149), the Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite won’t break the bank but it’s a worthy investment worth considering.
