Pebble Returns with Two New Smartwatches for 2025

Pebble fans can rejoice—two new smartwatches running open-source PebbleOS have been announced.

The Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 bring back the classic Pebble experience with modern upgrades, supporting thousands of Pebble apps and watchfaces.

The Core 2 Duo, priced at $149 USD, features a 1.26-inch black and white e-paper display, a polycarbonate frame, and a 30-day battery life. It includes a microphone, speaker, improved buttons, and new barometer and compass sensors. This model closely resembles the Pebble 2 and ships in July 2025.

The Core Time 2, priced at $225 USD, upgrades to a 1.5-inch 64-color e-paper display, a metal frame, and a touchscreen. It also includes a heart rate monitor, speaker, and microphone while maintaining the same 30-day battery life. Shipping starts in December 2025.

Both models are available exclusively through pre-orders online and will not be sold in stores. Due to limited production, securing a pre-order is the only way to guarantee a unit.

Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble, is originally from Canada. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and later attended the University of Waterloo, where he developed the first Pebble smartwatch. He currently resides in Palo Alto, California.

He gained recognition for launching one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of all time with the original Pebble smartwatch in 2012. After Pebble was acquired by Fitbit in 2016, he moved on to work in venture capital before returning to revive the PebbleOS ecosystem with the new Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 smartwatches.

PebbleOS remains fully open-source after Google made the move two months ago, allowing users to install classic Pebble watchfaces and apps. If you’re into customizing a smartwatch and go back in time, these might be for you.

Pebble fans? Are there any left? I still have my old pebble watch, and was not happy when it got bricked. Not sure I will risk that again.
